Create your first map
Tell Mindboard your topic. It asks a few optional questions, builds an AI persona from your answers, and puts it at the center of your new map.
- Select Get started and create your account.
- Select New mind map and type your topic or goal. It's the only required answer.
- Use Continue through the optional questions, or Skip any you don't need.
- At Review & confirm, check your answers and the AI Persona it built for you.
- Select Create map. Your map opens with that persona on its central node.

Import a document
Turn a PDF or Markdown file into a map you can question section by section.
- Select New mind map.
- Scroll to Start from a file.
- Under Import a complete map, select Choose a PDF or Markdown file. Mindboard proposes an outline for you to review.
- Select Import as [title]. Each section becomes a node with its own chat and notes.
Just want background? Under Use a document as background, select Choose a document. Mindboard uses its text to prefill your answers.
Already have a map? Open a node's chat → Add context or attachment → Upload document → Extract nodes, then review what will be added. Or choose Chat about this to use the document as chat context.
Good to know: PDFs need selectable text, so a scanned PDF may not import. In Markdown, headings become nested nodes and the text under each heading becomes that node's notes.

Run a Board Meeting
Put a node's sub-ideas in a room together. Each one argues from its own expertise, and the Chairperson closes with where they agree, where they don't, and what to do next.
- On a node with at least two children, open More node actions → Board Meeting. The first meeting starts automatically.
- Select Continue to let the next board member speak.
- Join in any time: type in Moderate the discussion… and select Send message.
- Select Conclude — synthesize the discussion for the Chairperson's closing.
- Select Save minutes to Notes.
More: in the meeting header, + (New meeting) starts a separate session and the clock (Past meetings) reopens earlier ones. Hear more from… asks one member to keep going. On the Free plan you get 2 Board Meetings a month.

How AI credits work
Credits are weighted. Small requests use a few; bigger jobs like long documents, deep expansions and Board Meetings use more. Mindboard shows an estimate before expensive actions.
You're never charged for nothing. If an AI action errors or comes back empty, no credits are used.
Credits reset every month, including on yearly plans. Unused credits don't roll over.
